The basics
What is Peek-A-Bot?
A small hand-drawn robot on a spring that lives above your Dock. It learns how you work from your own history, then sets up your day, tells you what matters, drafts replies in your voice and keeps you company. It runs on your Mac, with an encrypted Private Cloud for when you want more power.
Who is it for?
Anyone whose work lives in email, chat, calendars and files: people in marketing, engineering, law, finance, design, research, sales, operations and more. It learns how you work, so it isn’t built around one job.
Can I use it today?
Peek-A-Bot is in early access. The companion and its moves already run on the Mac; learning, the assistant features and Private Cloud reach early-access desks first. Join early access.
Which computers does it run on?
Mac first, on macOS 13 Ventura or later. Apple silicon is recommended for the larger local models; if your Mac can’t run one, Private Cloud can do that work for it. A Windows version is planned.
Will it get in my way?
It speaks up only when it has something worth saying: a few good nudges a day, never twenty. You can drag it anywhere on screen, hide it, or turn its idle moves off.
Learning and the Me file
How does it learn about me?
You connect your sources once: mail, chat, your task tool, your calendar and the folders you work in. Overnight it reads about six months of history and writes your Me file: the people you work with, your projects, open promises, your writing voice, your rhythm, and how you name and share files.
Does it train an AI model on my data?
No. The model never trains on your data. It reads your history and writes a private profile, which it consults every time it acts. You can read every line of your Me file, and delete it.
What does “Set up my workspace” do?
Give it today’s task, or let it read it from your calendar, inbox or task list. It finds everything related, opens the right apps with the right files (the latest draft, the numbers it depends on, the thread with the feedback) and gives you a four-line brief: the deadline, who’s waiting, what changed and what’s left.
Will it do things without asking?
Not at first. Opening files and writing briefs work from day one. Anything that changes something, like moving files, saving a new version or sending a note, starts as “here’s what I’d do, go?” and only becomes automatic after you’ve approved the same thing a few times. You can always take that back.
Does it understand shorthand?
That’s the point of the Me file. “Get the Brightwater deck ready” means the latest version of that deck, the spreadsheet behind it and the client’s last email, because that’s what you’ve been working on and that’s what you call it.
Privacy and Private Cloud
Does anything leave my Mac?
Not unless you choose Private Cloud. By default your mail, chats, files and Me file are read and stored on your Mac, and there’s no Peek-A-Bot server holding them. How we handle your data.
What is Private Cloud?
More power when you want it: bigger models for heavy jobs, and a way to run Peek-A-Bot on Macs that can’t run a local model. It’s built so no one can see your data: requests are encrypted on your Mac, processed in sealed hardware with no admin access, erased the moment they’re answered, and not linked to who sent them. How Private Cloud works.
Can you see what I send to Private Cloud?
No. It’s designed so that we can’t: our servers have no admin login or debugging access, keep nothing after answering, and your Mac refuses to talk to any server that isn’t running a build we’ve published for inspection.
Do I have to use Private Cloud?
No. It’s off until you turn it on. You can keep everything on your Mac, have Peek-A-Bot ask each time a job would be better in the cloud, or let it send big jobs automatically. On the Team plan, IT decides for everyone.
Can my IT department check all this?
Yes. With Private Cloud off, watch the network: nothing goes out. The Team plan adds MDM-managed setup, SSO, a company-wide Private Cloud switch and an audit document written for IT.
Does it need the internet?
Not for its everyday work on your Mac: nudges and drafts arrive instantly, offline included. Private Cloud, of course, needs a connection.
The character
Why a cartoon robot?
People learn to ignore notifications. They notice a friend. A character that waves, stretches with you and celebrates your wins makes a nudge feel like help instead of an alarm, and makes the day a bit more fun.
How is it animated?
Every move is hand-timed, rubber-hose animation at 24 frames a second, and each one starts and ends on the same pose so they chain without a cut. See all the moves.
Can I turn the animation off?
Yes. Turn off idle moves, hide it, or turn on Reduce Motion in your Mac’s settings and it stays still.
Plans
How much does it cost?
There’s a free plan; Personal is $10 a month or $99 once; Pro, with Private Cloud, is $20 a month; Team is $20 per seat per month, billed yearly. Compare plans.
Do you have a plan for companies?
Yes, Team. It’s built for IT: Private Cloud on or off by policy, MDM, SSO, no telemetry and an audit document, with volume licensing.
