The short version

  • Peek-A-Bot reads your mail, chats, tasks, calendar and files on your Mac, and only the sources you connect.
  • What it learns goes into your Me file, which lives on your disk. You can read every line of it, and delete it.
  • The model runs on your Mac by default. It never trains on your data, and there is no Peek-A-Bot server holding it.
  • Nothing leaves your Mac unless you turn on Private Cloud. Then only the pieces a task needs go, encrypted, to sealed servers that keep nothing.
  • This website has no cookies, no trackers and no analytics.

What it reads

Only what you connect: for example your mail, your team chat, your task tool, your calendar and the folders you point it at. If your company won’t approve an integration, you can give it exports instead. You can disconnect any source at any time.

What it keeps, and where

When you first connect, it reads about six months of history and writes your Me file: the people you work with, your projects, promises you’ve made, how you write, when you work best, and how you name and share files. The Me file is stored on your Mac’s disk. It isn’t uploaded, synced or backed up anywhere by us, and it isn’t sent to Private Cloud. On Pro you can choose to sync it between your own Macs through your own iCloud or OneDrive.

The first thing Peek-A-Bot shows you after it learns is the Me file itself, so you can check what it knows. You can delete it, and it starts again from nothing.

The model

A language model runs on your Mac’s own hardware. It never trains on your data. Instead it consults your Me file each time it acts, which is why it can work your way without anything about you leaving the machine. On your Mac it doesn’t need the internet to do its job, and keeps working offline.

What leaves your Mac

By default, nothing. If you turn on Private Cloud (part of Pro), heavy jobs can run on our servers instead: when your Mac can’t run a local model, or a task needs a bigger one. You choose whether that happens never, only when you say yes, or automatically for big jobs. On the Team plan, IT makes that choice for everyone.

How Private Cloud keeps it private

  • Encrypted on your Mac first. Before a request leaves your Mac, it’s encrypted to keys that exist only inside our verified servers. The networks, relays and data centres in between carry it, but can’t read it.
  • Processed in sealed hardware. Requests run inside confidential-computing hardware: memory is encrypted and isolated from everything else on the machine. There’s no admin login and no debugging access, so nobody can look inside while it works, including our own engineers.
  • Nothing is kept. Each request is used once, to answer you, then erased. Your content is never written to disk, never logged, and never used to train anything.
  • Your Mac checks before it talks. Every server proves cryptographically which software it’s running. If it isn’t the exact build we’ve published, your Mac refuses to send it anything.
  • Not tied to you. Requests travel through an independent relay that hides your IP address, and are authorised with anonymous tokens, so a request can’t be traced back to the person who sent it.
  • Only what the task needs. Your Me file stays on your Mac. Peek-A-Bot sends only the pieces a task actually needs, and shows you what’s going before it goes.

More on how Private Cloud works

How to check all of this

You don’t have to take our word for it. With Private Cloud off, watch the network while it works: nothing goes out. With it on, your Mac only talks to servers running software builds we publish for independent researchers to inspect. Team customers also get an audit document written for IT that lists what Peek-A-Bot reads, where it stores it and how to verify each claim.

What it does on your behalf

From day one it can open files, write briefs and draft replies, and nothing changes until you say so. Anything that changes something, like moving files, saving a new version or sending a note, starts as a question: “here’s what I’d do, go?” It only does that kind of thing on its own after you’ve approved the same pattern a few times, and you can take that back whenever you like.

This website

This site doesn’t use cookies, trackers or analytics, and its fonts and icons are served from here rather than a third party. It’s hosted on Netlify, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses) to run and protect the service. If you join early access, we keep your email address (and, if you tell us, what kind of work you do) only to contact you about Peek-A-Bot. It’s held by the mailing-list service we use to send those emails; we don’t sell it or share it with anyone else. Reply to any of our emails to have it deleted, or use the unsubscribe link.

Peek-A-Bot is in early access, and Private Cloud is in development; this page describes how they are designed to work. We’ll update it as features ship.
